【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameasurementofthepresenceofsurfactantsinaviationturbinefuels.LikepreviousobsoleteTestMethodsD2550andD3602andcurrentTestMethodD3948,thistestmethodcandetecttraceamountsofrefinerytreatingchemicalsinfuel.Thetestmethodscanalsodetectsurfaceactivesubstancesaddedtofuelintheformofadditivesorpickedupbythefuelduringhandlingfrompointofproductiontopointofuse.Someofthesesubstancesdegradetheabilityoffilterseparatorstoseparatefreewaterfromthefuel.Thistestmethodyieldsapproximatelythesame(low)MSEPratingsasTestMethodD3948forfuelsthatcontainstrongsurfactants.ThistestmethodwillgiveapproximatelythesameMSEPratingsforJetA,JetA-1,JP-5,JP-7,andJP-8fuelsasTestMethodD3948whentestingreferencefluids.TheMSEPratingsobtainedbythistestmethodarelessaffectedbyweaksurfactantsthanTestMethodD3948.SomewhathigherMSEPratingsforJetA,JetA-1,JP-5,JP-7,andJP-8fuelsareobtainedbythistestmethodthanthoseobtainedbyTestMethodD3948whenadditivessuchasstaticdissipateradditives(SDA)andcorrosioninhibitorsarepresentinthefuel.Thiscorrelateswiththesatisfactoryperformanceoffilterseparatorsforsuchfuels,whenwet.However,thesesameadditivesadverselyaffecttheMSEPratingsobtainedbyTestMethodD3948byerroneouslyindicatingthatsuchadditizedfuelswouldsignificantlydegradetheabilityoffilterseparatorstoseparatefreewaterfromthefuelinactualservice.TheMicro-Separometerhasaneffectivemeasurementrangefrom50to100.Valuesobtainedoutsideofthoselimitsareundefinedandinvalid.Note18212;Intheeventavaluegreaterthan100isobtained,thereisagoodprobabilitythatlighttransmittancewasreducedbymaterial,typicallywater,containedinthefuelthatwasusedtosetthe100referencelevel.Duringthecoalescingportionofthetest,thecontaminatingmaterialaswellasthe50x00B1;1x00B5;Lofdistilledwaterwassubsequentlyremovedduringthisportionofthetest.Thus,theprocessedfuelhadahigherlighttransmittancethanthefuelsampleusedtoobtainthe100referencelevelresultinginthefinalratingmeasuringinexcessof100.1.1Thistestmethodcoversarapidportablemeansforfieldandlaboratoryusetoratetheabilityofkerosine-typeaviationturbinefuels,bothneatandthosecontainingadditives,toreleaseentrainedoremulsifiedwaterwhenpassedthroughfiberglasscoalescingmaterial.1.1.1Thistestmethodisapplicabletokerosine-typeaviationturbinefuelsincluding:JetAandJetA-1(asdescribedinSpecificationD1655);JP-5,JP-7,JP-8,andJP-8+100.(SeeSection6.)1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,see8.2-8.5.
