【摘要】:1Thispracticecoversthepreparationanduseofsemi-adiabaticcalorimetersformeasurementofabsorbeddoseingraphite,water,orpolystyrenewhenirradiatedwithelectrons.Thecalorimetersareeithertransportedbyaconveyorpastascannedelectronbeamorarestationaryinabroadenedbeam.Italsocoverstheuseofthesecalorimeterstocalibratedosimetersystemsinelectronbeamsintendedforradiationprocessingapplications.2Thispracticeappliestoelectronbeamsintheenergyrangefrom4to12MeV.3Theabsorbeddoserangedependsontheabsorbingmaterialandtheirradiationandmeasurementconditions.Minimumdoseisapproximately100Gyandmaximumdoseisapproximately50kGy.4Theaveragedabsorbeddoseraterangeshallgenerallybegreaterthan10Gy·s,butdependsonthesameconditionsasabove.5Thetemperaturerangeforuseofthesecalorimetersdependsonthethermalresistanceofthematerialsandonthecalibrationrangeofthetemperaturesensor.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappro-priatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplica-bilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
